vPilot Windows Defender error

Hi there,
Windows Defender has now started deleting vPilot on the basis that it has a ’ Win32/Phonzy.B!ml’ malware in it. How can I stop it from doing this? Thanks

I have the same problem. I can no longer use vPilot on my PC as Microsoft thinks it is a virus and deletes it. It was fine before version 3.10.0

I have the same problem issue

go to windows security> virus and threat protection>Ransomware protection>allow app through controlled folder access .Then click allow app and find vpilot

Hi Everyone, I want to install the new VPilot 3.10.0 and Microsft defender tells me that there is a Trojaner in it, so i cant download it. Should I keep VPilot or what should I do?

Same issue here, no solution found yet

Yes, when executing VPilot for use with MSFS2024 my virus software shut it down and removed the program from my machine. Then when I went to the VPilot site to download the program it wouldn’t download as my virus software said there was a virus on the exe file

i think you can put an exception in windows defender, telling it that the app is safe. You might need to search how to do it

I did that and bypassed Defender but it still would not download as a virus was identified during the actual download. Others are experiencing this too from Twitch stream reports.

im having the same problem, it says trojan file detected

well, I dont know if its a good idea to download something, which has maybe a Trojaner in it…

I have the same issue, Microsoft is detecting the trojan Win32/Phonzy

Is anyone doing something about this?

Hi All: I found a solution. Windows Defender quarantined the VPilot directory so you got to go in and say that direct is ok…here is the path. Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security > Virus & threat protection. Under Virus & threat protection settings, select Manage settings, and then under Exclusions, select Add or remove exclusions. Select Add an exclusion, and then select from files, folders, file types, or process. After doing this, you need to download and run VPilot set up and then run the program. Good hunting.

Should I try? I dont want to have a Trojaner. I mean, I dont know if its pissoble for someone to hack into the Vatsim VPilot network ant plants there a Trojaner :frowning:

You will not when you get to the end of the path that Fenix and other flightsim directories are also excluded from the virus software. I believe VPilot was too but that setting was not included or forgot in the recent Version update for 2024. Just a hunch.

Merged all the topics here. I know @887155 is aware of this already.

Applications cannot exclude themselves. If that were possible, then malware would just exclude itself.

We don’t know why vPilot 3.10.0 is being flagged by Windows Defender. This same trojan has been detected by Windows Defender’s AI-driven malware detector in many other applications.

We have contacted MS about it, hopefully they’ll fix it on their end. Until then, you can add your own exclusion if you’re comfortable with doing so. If not, you will just have to wait for MS to fix it on their end.

I’ve got the same, I ran the executable through virustotal.com and 4 AV providers have picked it up as malware:
