Hello All,
I’m new to vatsim and on all my first few flights my PTT button stops responding in Vpilot and I have to disconnect close Vpilot and reopen it to get the PTT working again. Any one seen this issue and have a solution?
Thanks
Hello All,

Haven’t heard of that one. Are you running vPilot as an Administrator? Did you set up and/or do any troubleshooting in accordance with the vPilot Tips, Tricks, FAQ and Troubleshooting Guide? If so, what did you try and what were the results from each troubleshooting step/attempt?
Don,
I will have to get back to you on the running as the admin. What’s weird is it works fine the whole flight then disconnecting from Vatsim and restarting Vpilot fixes it. I will try running as admin see if the issue comes back. 99 percent of the time it works fine not sure what I’m doing to trigger it.
Yeah, I would think maybe Admin would make it binary – works or doesn’t. But I’m not that smart on those things. I just don’t remember this issue coming up before. Either way, I wish you luck!
I have been having the same problem with latest vpilot version 3.11. Works fine, but PTT key stops working, usually after a period of inactivity on comms. Disconnect/reconnect always fixes it. I can hear audio, but TX light does not light up when PTT pressed. Again, Disconnect/reconnect fixes it. I always ensure I run vpilot as ADMIN. The failure mode is subtle as there is no indication the microphone is offline until comm failure reported by ATC.
Using FSX-SE, WIN11.
Ditto hear. Never had this issue until of late. Seems to be after some inactivity, but not necessarily much.
Disconnect and reconnect fixes it, for awhile.
I can hear, I meant here.
I can confirm this as well. After a period of inactivity, it just seems to lock up but a restart fixes it. Not sure why.
I’m having the same issue, but for me, PTT doesn’t work at all as soon as I log on. I can hear ATC just fine, but the blue TX light never lights up when I try to transmit.
I’ve been using vPilot for about a year and a half, and this has happened a few times before—but after about a week of trying, it usually starts working again. This time, though, it seems different, and I have no idea what to do next.
Anyone else experiencing this? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
If you could let me know what you work out that would be great. Thanks
@1453730 Are you saying you’re trying to use vPilot with xPlane?
@887155 Any ideas on this thread (transmit times out)?
No clue, but I’m definitely curious if it is happening with xPilot as well.
To everyone having this issue with vPilot, please enter the “.debug” command to open the debug window. Then when PTT stops working, check if vPilot is at least recognizing the keypress. The debug window will show messages when you press and release PTT.
Thanks for the reply, but I just want to make sure… You’re having your stuttering problem when using xPilot with XPlane? Or vPilot with one of its associated sims? You’ve posted in the vPilot forum, but it seems like you’re using xPilot with XPlane.
Sorry, I haven’t had any issues with vpilot in the past so I am new to this. Could you please let me know how to use the debug command and how I can fix this. Thanks
Hello. Same issue here. Running admin mode, after a period of time vPilot does not recognize PTT. Ran debug. vPilot seeing PPT press. Disconnect and Connect solves issue until next time.

Based on that, my best guess is that this is a network/firewall issue. Something is blocking the voice packets from flowing after some timeout. That is just an educated guess, though.
Any tips on how to address this? Nothing changed on my end, except the installation of the most recent vPilot update, but not sure when that was. This is a new issue for me.
Hard to say. If my guess is correct, and it’s a network issue, it could be anywhere. In your PC, in your router, your ISP, or anywhere in between you and the VATSIM voice server.
Well, I did a re-install of vPilot, and no issues on a 3 hour flight… Not sure what happened, but seem okay now.
