Based on the AIM and this article, the FAA seems to be doing something different with the NAV/ codes for Item 18 of the ICAO flight plan. I have been doing some furious Googling today but thus far have not cracked the code on if the rest of the ICAO world is doing this same thing or not.
It seems that gone are the days of NAV/RNVD1E2A1 and so on; the FAA seems to now want to use NAV/ as additional details re: PBN.
So, I have two questions:
- Can someone please share a document explaining in detail what ICAO wants done with this field? This resource from EUROCONTROL seems to hint at it but I can’t find anything that actually explains it in detail.
- Can someone please clarify what VATSIM wants us to do? I realize this may differ between regions, but I am guessing there is a general consensus between VATUSA and the rest of the world?
