There a few threads that currently exist covering this subject matter dating back over 2 years ago!
What are these random and painfully loud audio distortions that occur unpredictably on the radios? It is infuriating.
I average 10-15 of them per flight. Forget if a frequency is busy ; I’ve experienced upward of 8 extremely loud audio distortions for no reason in a matter of 10 mins. Happens when other pilots or controllers t/x.
I don’t want to hear that the team can’t identify it as this has been the counter argument that seems to appear everywhere, ridiculous. I want to hear what is actively being done to look into the issue and what steps are being taken to mitigate an extremely bothersome technical imperfection that many other users have expressed disscontempt with the same (not too mention how unsafe such sudden jumps in volume levels can get, even with volume settings in vpilot nearly at zero).
What temporary workarounds have other uses identified for the time being until the team does something about this 730+ day known issue?
I am fed up, and I’m sure other users are too. And especially at this stage in the game? Totally embarrassing. Please do something about this.
I’m sorry, I’m not even really interpreting what it is you wrote.
What I think it is you meant to say is that every time a message is sent in the client, there is a quick noise once the message is sent. That is not what I am referring to.
I am referring to radio transmissions, as in when someone is keying the microphone and speaking into it…
About mid way through the transmission, the sound suddenly increases and distorts to painful levels, with no warning.
I have no idea if you are with the team, or are just passing by replying to the thread.
But, if you are with the team, please pass this message along to your tech experts and have them look into it—even though Vatsim actually knows this issue has existed with 2+ yrs of user history discussing it.
I dunno, really aiming into the dark with this one. But I hope something gets done about it soon.
Same here. ATC is voicing some information for me like “you are cleared for runway 03”. Part way through ATC voice becomes very very loud and distorts. I think this happens when some else on the frequency starts talking as well and there is a voice conflict. Maybe what you are talking about is different (?)
I wanted to take a minute to address this post as I can sense (and empathize with) the frustration.
This issue has absolutely existed for a long time. AFV was written by a group of volunteer developers who then passed the project over to the VATSIM tech team. Both the original devs, and our own teams have tried to diagnose this issue without success.
For some, the issue is resolved by never using the volume slider in vPilot and only using the one in your windows OS. For some, it’s resolved by disabling the realistic radio effects. For some, this issue never occurs.
This issue is still on our list. Our volunteer team is working constantly to innovate and advance the network on all levels. As I write this, the team is discussing the improvements to our pilot training course, architecture improvements, and a concept for the next iteration of our network core.
We will get this solved - but it will continue to take time.
