The VATSIM Middle East & Northern Africa Division is now accepting applications for the position of Deputy ATC Training Director (VATMENA31).
Position Duties: The role of the Divisional Deputy ATC Training Director entails assisting the department director in the management and operation of all Air Traffic Control training operations within VATMENA division on VATSIM network.
This position is critical for upholding quality and compliance, with a direct responsibility for validating ATC standards through rigorous checks and ensuring all training activities are conducted in full accordance with the governing policies.
Reports Directly To:
- ATC Training Director - VATSIM Middle East & Northern Africa [VATMENA3]
- Director - VATSIM Middle East & Northern Africa [VATMENA1]
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Overseeing the development and delivery of training resources across the division.
- Overseeing all subdivisional training departments and activities, ensuring all controller training activities align with all relevant policies, including the VATMENA Division Policy, VATMENA ATC Training Policy, and the Global Controller Administration Policy.
- Ensuring all controller training in the division is delivered in a timely manner and consistently meets high standards.
- Conducting training-related tasks as needed, including administering Controller Practical Tests and conducting divisional training sessions.
- Leading and managing a team of divisional and local instructors, including making recommendations for instructor appointments.
- Addressing support tickets related to the ATC Training Department at the divisional level.
- Maintaining a visible and active presence within the division’s social platforms.
- Carrying out additional responsibilities as assigned by the Department or Divisional Director.
Ideal Candidate Should Have:
- More than 18 consecutive months of experience as a mentor or instructor.
- Strong skills in planning, organization, and coordination.
- In-depth knowledge of VATSIM’s Global Controller Administration Policy (GCAP), the Training and Visiting Controller Policy (TVCP), and VATMENA Divisional Policies.
- Excellent communication, administrative, and collaborative abilities.
- A proactive attitude with a strong commitment to improving the quality and standards within the VATMENA division
Minimum Requirements:
To be considered for this position, the candidate must meet the following criteria:
- Good knowledge of ATC training procedures and practices.
- The applicant should be on good standing with VATSIM and VATMENA
- Have been an active member of the VATSIM MENA division for a minimum of six (6) months.
- The applicant has been a member of VATSIM network for not less than 24 months at the time of application.
- The applicant currently holds, or has held, a mentor position within VATSIM within the past 24 months at the time of application.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, in English.
- Hold a minimum rating of Controller 1 (C1) for at least 6 months.
- Be capable of committing an average of 5-7 hours per week to the role.
- Able to commit to the position for a minimum term of one year.
