Use nof Radio on 122,80

I have been sitting overlooking on ZRH on 122.80 and followed the trafic into and out of ZRH.
I am disapointed with the use of radio when not manned. Almost none of the 25 flights I followed where using Radio. THAT IS BAD(POOR) AIRMANSHIP: Sharpen up people

And you think that those who do not apply advisory-procedures correctly will be reading this forum? Most likely they won’t, so it’s a fruitless exercise.

People have changed since i have started way back in 98

We should use advisory to announce every step as if there is a controller. But in the case that you know you are the only plane in the vicinity it does not make much sense to do so and will just add to the noise. With an asobo plane the frequency is not by default on advisory (it is with Fenix and Aerosoft), so it can be worse than not using voice - not on advisory.

I am finding it very frustrating when approaching a busy primary airport the lack of use of the radio outside ATC hours when the mandatory use of radio is required. Just recently on 3 occasions, when on a STAR, several over aircraft approaching the same runway (in low IMC conditions) blindly tracked to the FAF (from outside the STAR) without any consideration to other aircraft. I endeavoured to make contact with the arriving aircraft (approx 4) on several occasions starting at 50mn out. Not one aircraft acknowledged my calls. I did get someone transmitting animal sounds.
This completely takes away the immersion and shows a complete lack of any professionalism and respect for other pilots, who are trying to do the right thing.
I feel that the matter is becoming worse with no avenue (that I know) on how to report the issue. In the real world an incident report would have been completed.
Perhaps a proper training program should be implemented to help with this problem.

When I do my thing AND announce it on Advisory or CTAF and others do not, I consider them being inexistent. Makes life easier. If they want to complain, send them to the VATSIM Code of Conduct and proper use of those frequencies.

Few weeks ago I almost collided with a departing plane at Schiphol: Voice was used continuously so I did not notice that one flight had used text message only (departing on 36C). I did see the plane rushing towards me when crossing and pushed the throttle so that we avoided the collission. The PIC of the other flight was in contact and said spontaneously that this was the risk of using text when all others seem to use voice. My lesson: check text always even while everyone is using voice (use the VPilot on top feature).
