In VATSIM, for long flight, can I flight online with ATC (if available) from Ground to Take off, Climb then after transferring to Unicom, I disconnect and teleport aircraft to end of cruise, then reconnect VATSIM to continue with VATSIM ATC (of course I will need to check whether my teleport position will cause crash traffic with other aircraft at same Flight Level before I teleport)?
Yes. You are free to disconnect at anytime. Before connecting try and minimise conflict with other aircraft using a vat viewer. All legal.
Before you reconnect, I’d suggest first connecting in observer mode to make sure you’re not in a swarm of other traffic.
Thank you for your all feedback, I tried as your suggestion and had very awesome ATC control my flight for approach and landing, taxi to gate. By this way, I can short my cruise phase for long flight by teleport and reconnect VATSIM.
VATSIM is totally different experience with BeyondATC, FSHud. VATSIM ATC has diversity control such as cancel approach, then guide to other heading, then approach back when runway is available, etc. Every flight has different scene, experience.
That should work but don’t reonnect inside an active controllers area. That is frowned upon. Reconnect outside the area so you can contact ATC before you enter their area.
Not exactly. It’s probably a bad idea to connect inside the airspace of an approach controller. But it is 100% fine to connect in area airspace, maybe “as observer”, call the ATCO in question with your position and level and ask for permission to continue like this.
