Sim audio quality poor when connecting to vPilot

Hi,

I don’t know what the issue is but when I go to connect to VATSIM via vPilot my audio quality in-sim drops.

The best way I can describe it is 4K to 720p in terms of quality.

This happens instantly as soon as I switch on vPilot application (I don’t need to login to the network before this happens)

Has anyone experienced this before?

I am running

MSFS
Windows 11
Latest version of vPilot
Bluetooth Headset (Jabra Evolve2 65)

The audio of the controllers is fantastic - but its almost as if vPilot takes over all audio of the PC.

Any ideas on this? My Communications Setting in Windows is set to Do Nothing.

If I shut down the vPilot.exe the audio restores to perfect quality again

This is due to Bluetooth. As soon as an application wants to use the microphone the Bluetooth profile switches from A2DP to HSP (headset) or HFP (hands-free) which only supports crappy voice codecs. Its an inherent problem with the default Bluetooth profiles that only wireless headsets with custom dongles or software can fix.
