"Request TCAS Control" and "Release TCAS Control" in plugin menu

Hi there!
Can anybody please explain to me, when and why I have to click on “Request TCAS Control” and “Release TCAS Control” in the xPilot plugin menu?

If you have no problems, you’ll never have to use it. Otherwise you’ll see an error about it in your X-Plane Log.txt or in xPilot.
That is/was for interoperability with other traffic-plugins (like TrafficGlobal or LiveTraffic or so).
