Potential bug: VPilot 3.11.0 no longer injecting traffic into FSUIPC?

Hey all!

I’ve recently started to notice that the latest stable version of VPilot, v3.11.0, no longer appears to inject traffic into FSUIPC as has been the case with previous versions.

I am a blind sim pilot, and the Talking Flight Monitor software used by our community to make flight simming accessible has a traffic list feature to show nearby airplanes for awareness, this is essentially our TCAS radar replacement.
Talking Flight Monitor pulls this traffic from FSUIPC, leading me to believe there might be something wrong currently with the communication between VPilot and FSUIPC.
I have tried reinstalling VPilot, FSUIPC as well as FSLTL just in case, however unfortunately the issue persists.
While testing, I used VPilot’s .aircraft command as well to verify that there actually was traffic around. Have also tested with FS 2020 AI traffic as well as FSLTL Traffic Injector, and in both cases I was able to get nearby planes to show up in TFM as expected.

I’m only using MSFS 2020 here, FS 2024 is not and was never installed on my system so can safely be ruled out as the cause of this issue.

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

Cheers,
Robin

Hi Robin,

vPilot does not use or interact with FSUIPC at all. That is true of the current version and all past versions. Nothing has changed with respect to how vPilot injects traffic into the simulator since the earliest versions. So I’m not sure why the TFM software would recently stop being able to “see” the traffic objects that vPilot creates.

The only thing that changed in 3.11.0 is that I added support for reading the simvars that indicate which individual COM radios are enabled for receive in the aircraft the user is flying. This has no impact on injecting traffic into the sim.

Hey Ross,

Thanks so much for your response, super greatly appreciated!

Good to know that vPilot does not directly interact with FSUIPC. To me this seemed like the most likely culprit, given that I think the aircraft models themselves are getting injected, as I did get a TCAS RA callout from my PMDG 777 once while the issue was occurring and flying in uncontrolled airspace. A friend of mine is also experiencing the same problem, so I figured I’d post here to see if there might have been any changes around traffic injection in recent vPilot updates.

Very helpful to know that nothing’s changed there recently, at least we can now rule that out as a possible cause and look elsewhere to hopefully get down to what’s happening.

Thanks again for the help, happy new year!
Cheers,
Robin
