Hi, I am noticing a severe performance degradation when I have more online traffic around me. For example, I have flown around Munich at FL350, which had 12 departures at that moment, and my FPS dropped from my typical 60 FPS to 9 FPS.
All that with a pretty much high end hardware (Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 32GB RAM and RTX 3090), and neither of those being 100% loaded.
I have verified that vPilot is the culprit, since the FPS drop immediately stopped when I have disconnected the vPilot.
My performance settings are max 200 aircraft to display and display all aircraft within 30 miles. I am using the IVAO MTL as an AI traffic library (I heard that FSLTL is even worse in terms of performance.
Is there any effort to optimize vPilot in this regard? Performance drops like this are ridiculous…
Observing the FPS return to normal when you disconnect vPilot does not prove that vPilot is the cause. That only suggests that vPilot is somehow involved with or enables whatever is actually causing the FPS drop. Consider the fact that tens of thousands of people use vPilot regularly without this issue.
My best guess is that one or more of the models that you are using for model matching is causing the issue. You might try temporarily disabling the IVAO MTL so that only the stock models built into the sim are used for model matching, and see if the issue persists. My second best guess is that some other SimConnect add-on is interfering with vPilot’s communication with the sim. You could try temporarily disabling other SimConnect add-ons to see if you can narrow it down. (But please try my first suggestion, first.)
I am aware, unfortunately since it’s much superior to the FSLTL, because FSLTL is basically not being updated at all (last update was December 2023), I strongly prefer it.
Accept and allow (behavior that is considered [morally] wrong or offensive) to continue.
Examples:
“the college cannot condone any behavior that involves illicit drugs”
“VATSIM does not condone the use of the IVAO MTL on VATSIM, as the MTL library license agreement states that the use of the MTL library is for use on the IVAO network only.”
