Mapping Question Please

Shalom and greetings all my pals,

I have an interesting question. I write lots of waypoints for lots of flights.

What I would like to do is to write waypoints for one flight and have the waypoints imposed on Google style satellite map so that it would show the route where I can identify cities, streets, lakes, rivers, towns, and so on. Simbrief can do it but not on satellite map. It is on normal map in Simbrief which does not work for me because it does not show all names of cities, streets, lakes, rivers, towns, and so on.

Do any of you know if there is such website that allows me to input waypoints and have the website show me the route on satellite map?

Thanks for any assistance any of you might provide.

Regards,

Aharon

Maybe LittleNavmap could be a solution for you, if I’m correctly understanding what you’re trying to do?

I second Little Navmap, but you should also be able to do this in Navigraph.

If Navigrph is same as Simbrief, they do not have Satilette

Does it require connecting to FSX?? Can I get view without being connected to FSX?

You could create a KMZ file and open it in Google Earth.

There is also a add on for Google earth that tracks your flight.

If you have the Ultimate Subscription, you can access the Navigraph Charts app, which, among other things, can use a satellite map as a background for the world map (and if you zoom in far enough, you can see the names even for tiny villages).

Little Navmap is its own independent program, the only time it needs to connect to a simulator (which it can do automatically for all simulators that work with VATSIM as far as I’m aware) is if you want to track your flight, but to just see the route on a map it requires nothing else.
You might need to download a map addon to get a satellite view in the program (I don’t remember if the GoogleEarth map is included by default), but apart from that it should work right out of the box for what you’re trying to do.

you can do what you want with skyvector but its not aerial photos, its vfr or ifr charts.

Thanks I will check it out

Navigraph owns Simbrief but you should be able to display your current position in the Navigraph Charts app which connects to your simulator. It has High IFR, Low IFR, VFR, World Map and Satellite view options.

David, I do not have paid Simbrief I am using free Simbrief.

Anyway, I have solved the problem after two attempts!!! Without use of LittleNavMap!!!

How?? First attempt which worked well but did not satisfy me was to use Simbrief to create a flight plan with waypoints, then generate that flight, and then export that flight as KML file format to my computer directory. Then I used Google Earth to open that KML flight which automatically put the flight route with specific waypoints onto Google Earth sateliette map. It works BUT BUT it is hard for me to read that sateliette map.

So next to second attempt which proves more successful and MORE USEFUL. I repeated the process as in the first attempt but INSTEAD INSTEAD of using Google Earth, I used GoogleMyMaps which works marvelous and very very easy to read the map using the flight route with waypoints.

Problem solved!! I do not need LittleNavMap

Thanks to all for suggestions.

Aharon

I see no point, pun intended  , whatsoever in doing such a thing at all.

To be real use Navigraph with Sectional Charts. That’s what we used before GPS, and then I still kept a sectional nearby.
