Greetings.
I switched to ProSim and 737MAX doesn’t have many liveries available, just very few. Will that be a big deal if I fly with ProSim livery occasionally but using a RW airline call sign? I know it could cause model matching discrepancies, but currently we are limited with liveries.I thought it would be OK because I see airplanes with white (no livery) paint skin very often, but I just want to double check Thanks.
With model matching, you see others based on what AI models you have installed, and what operator and type aircraft they logged in as. For example, if you’re at a gate, and the plane next to you looks like a Delta Airbus A321 neo, it’s because you have a Delta Airbus A321 neo model and they logged in with a Delta callsign and an aircraft type code of A21N.
Other users see you on VATSIM based on the model-matching packages they have installed on their end, not what you have installed. When you connect, your client sends your aircraft type and callsign to the VATSIM servers, and other users’ clients use this information to find the best matching model and livery from their own installed packages. For example, if you were logged in as SWA1234 with aircraft type B38M, your gate-friend in the Delta A21N next to you would see you as a Southwest 737-800 MAX only if they have an AI model of a Southwest 737-800 MAX installed and configured correctly. If they don’t then their model matching will likely try to represent you as something reasonably close, or as their model matching default (e.g. “Asobo Twin Engine”).
Other notes:
You have no control over what other users see, as it depends entirely on their installed model-matching packages.
If you use a fictional or custom livery, it is unlikely others will see it unless they also have it installed, which is improbable for fictional liveries.
Thanks for the explanation.
The way I read this even if I fly with United livery which is a part of ProSim package there is still a chance others may not be able to see me as United.
To my original question, I guess I still can fly with ProSim livery shown ProSim logo across the fuselage and using other airline call signs then.
Yes, this is true, but this would be their problem, not yours ![]()
Yes, this is true.
Great news. I can fly more destinations now.
Appreciate the replies.
Which is still the biggest disadvantage in Vatsim model matching. It can even happen that you start a flight together with a fellow pilot who has one livery, and when you see him again after landing, he has another. In-flight repainting ![]()
Are there any plans to add this function to vPilot? Or, for that matter, to replace vPilot which something more modern? This software is how old, 20 years?
vPilot is a lot younger that that, it was first released in May 2014 so 11 years old. vPilot is a nice little program that uses very little resources on your computer and is still very good for Flightsim and Vatsim in it current compacity.
Edward, just to clarify, in your simulator (P3D or MSFS), you will see whatever livery you choose when you spawned (United, Southwest, etc.). Others, however, will see the livery of the airline you chose as your callsign when you connected with vPilot. For example, ProSim doesn’t (yet) include a livery for American Airlines (AAL), but if you connect to VATSIM with vPilot using a callsign like “AAL1234”, others (on VATSIM) will see your airplane’s livery painted with the American Airlines paint job (even though you spawned with a different livery inside your own simulator). I hope this helps.
Hi Tim.
I see it now. So the liveries I have installed is only for my personal visual representation.
Thanks for explanation.
