The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the existing and implementing new strategies and systems to improve pilot skills, as we strive to achieve consistently high standard of realism and proficiency within the community. As VATSIM continues to grow, there is a heightened demand for knowledgeable and capable pilots who can seamlessly integrate into complex ATC environments. Your role will be instrumental in helping virtual pilots of all experience levels—from beginners to seasoned veterans—reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and Develop New Training Programs : Craft and oversee training modules that cater to pilots at various stages of experience in their VATSIM journey.
  • Standardize Pilot Procedures : Work with other departments to create consistent, clear guidelines for pilot conduct and operations.
  • Foster Continuous Improvement : Establish benchmarks for pilot performance and work to ensure that the average skill level on the network improves over time.
  • Collaboration : Work closely with VATSIM’s Technology and Regional Vice Presidents to create a cohesive, integrated feedback reporting system.
  • Community Engagement : Lead initiatives to engage pilots, encourage participation in training programs, and promote mentorship opportunities within the community.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A deep understanding of VATSIM’s mission and the virtual aviation community.
  • Proven experience in pilot training or a related field.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to oversee a team of instructors and volunteers.
  • Experience in project management
  • A strategic mindset focused on long-term improvements in pilot competency.
  • Passion for elevating the overall experience on VATSIM by enhancing pilot quality.

Due to the critical nature of this role, members must be good standing with VATSIM. Applicants are required to nominate TWO VATSIM members in good standing on the VATSIM network who may be contacted by the Selection Panel to provide character and experience references.
