Hello,
How long do we have to wait until we can file a flightplan with the same callsigns?
I had the following problem a couple of times now: After arriving at my destination I logoff from Vatsim and file my return flight with the same callsign. I logon again and ATC still has the old, original flight plan. When I try to file again in flight, they keep on reporting that they only have the original FPL.
You should be able to file a flight plan more or less immediately. If you have connected first, you will need to remain stationary for 90 seconds before you can file.
Hello, it was much longer than that. I even disconnected, then filed the second FPL and connected again. The problem is that there Is no easy way to check until the controller tells you that you have a ‘wrong’ flight plan.
Haven’t experienced that myself yet (and I do fly a fair share of back to back flights with the same callsign), but what I tend to do is check a map tool to ensure the correct flight plan is now in the system after filing - if that is the case and the controller still says they have the old flight plan, then I’d submit that this is a problem on the ATC side (be that lack of competence of the controller themselves, a controller client issue, a misconfigured sector package, outdated version of either of the two, …) and not something VATSIM itself can fix.
