We are excited to announce that an update to vPilot will be released tonight at 2100 UTC, enabling Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 (MSFS2024) users to connect to the VATSIM network!
This update has been a top priority for our development team, ensuring that MSFS2024 pilots can enjoy the immersive experience of flying online with VATSIM. The new version of vPilot has undergone thorough testing to ensure a smooth and reliable connection for the latest Microsoft Flight Simulator platform.
As we prepare for the release, we want to highlight an important note about model matching compatibility!
Due to changes in how MSFS2024 streams content, vPilot will not initially support robust model matching without a third-party utility. We understand how vital accurate model matching is for immersion, and we’re committed to collaborating with the development community to bring native support for MSFS2024 in the future. In the meantime, without a third-party utility, network traffic will be limited to approximately 30 default aircraft models provided by MSFS2024. For the best experience, we strongly recommend using a reliable third-party solution, such as FSLTL, to expand model matching options.
Additionally, we discourage users from connecting to the network while using Career Mode, as the simulator automatically changes communication frequencies during these scenarios, potentially disrupting the VATSIM experience.
Key Points to Remember:
The vPilot update enabling MSFS2024 connectivity will be released tonight at 2100 UTC.
Robust model matching is not yet available for MSFS2024. Without a third-party utility, network traffic will be limited to about 30 default aircraft models. Third-party utilities are recommended for a more immersive experience.
Avoid using Career Mode while connected to the network, as it causes automated frequency changes.*
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we adapt to the cutting-edge advancements in flight simulation. Our team is dedicated to enhancing your experience, and we are confident this update will unlock new possibilities for MSFS2024 pilots on VATSIM.
Thank you for being part of our vibrant aviation community!
Not sure if anyone else experienced this issue or has really given it a go yet, but I have FSLTL models installed. I have the ruleset enabled for it. When I was on the ground with other aircraft, I couldn’t see anyone. I reloaded model matching and even went to .aircraft and deleted everyone so it would force reload them, no one showed up.
I’m having an issue with the 3.10.0 update where the Model Matching for FS2024 will not scan the FSLTL_Rules.vmr file. It will flash the Scanning Models progress window and then shut it with “0 Models Found”, even running vPilot in Admin Mode.
I have the same issue. I have downloaded FSLTL models and then located the VMR file. On scanning for models in VPILOT it won’t find the VMR file. Also tried this with AIG model matching as a backup. It did however find five fenix variants which were
in the same folder?
Do you have the fsltl-traffic-base folder on the MSFS2024 community folder? The vmr file by itself is not enough, the models must be on the community folder for the simulator.
vPilot does not scan for the .vmr file. You need to add it manually to the settings under “Custom Rules”
I couldn’t see any AI / Multiplayer traffic in FS2024 with the the sim’s built-in AI offline/online and multiplayer traffic. Looks like a core bug in the sim so I would expect the same to happen with vPilot traffic. That’s my experience at least with G1000/G3000/GNS530 avionics.
EDIT:
I was wrong!!! Just connected for the first time with vPilot and MSFS2024.
At least something that DOES work
Tested in the TBM850 with GNS530, I can see traffic!
Well for me at least with FSLTL, models, quiet barely. Light is faint and very directional. This might be a sim bug with backwards compatibility, it might be fixable with some tuning to the new photometric lighting model, but I’m just guessing here.
Hey Macelo, thanks for the quick reply. So, nope, did not know to copy the fsltl-traffic-base folder into the MSFS 2024 Community folder. That would most likely be the culprit.
Has anyone encounter any problems with the installation of the new vPilot, my firewall defender (standard Windows 10) screams there is a Trojan risk and refuses the installation. Please help.
