Canadian Xpress is celebrating 15 years of operations and as part of those celebrations we will be flying some of the routes of our 15-Year Anniversary Tour. Over the next several months, we will pick one leg from the Tour and turn it into the monthly Challenge event. You will still have to fly the leg once for the tour and again for the challenge if you want credit for both.
This month, we fly Leg 36 of the Anniversary Tour and fly from Malta to Palma.
LPalma, also known as Palma de Mallorca is the capital and largest city of the autonomous community of the Balearic Islands in Spain. It is situated on the south coast of Mallorca on the Bay of Palma. The Cabrera Archipelago, though widely separated from Palma proper, is administratively considered part of the municipality. The city and islands have history that dates to 120BC and the Romans. Changing hands several times over the last 2000 years. Since the advent of mass tourism in the 1950s, the city has been transformed into a tourist destination and has attracted many workers from mainland Spain. This has contributed to a huge change in the city’s traditions, its language, and its economic power. The boom in tourism has caused Palma to grow significantly. In 1960, Mallorca received 500,000 visitors, in 1997 it received more than 6,739,700. In 2001 more than 19,200,000 people passed through Son Sant Joan airport near Palma, with an additional 1.5 million coming by sea. In 2023, the total number of passengers arriving at Son Sant Joan (Palma de Mallorca) airport amounted to 31,105,987.
Your mission is to depart from Malta International (LMML) and fly to Palma de Mallorca (LEPA) with any Canadian Xpress freeware or payware aircraft that is rated for both airports.
