Canadian Xpress is celebrating 15 years of operations and as part of those celebrations we will be flying some of the routes of our 15-Year Anniversary Tour. Over the next several months, we will pick one leg from the Tour and turn it into the monthly Challenge event. You will still have to fly the leg once for the tour and again for the challenge if you want credit for both.
This month we fly Leg 9 of the 15-Year Anniversary Tour and fly from Fort Lauderdale to Nassau on the island of New Providence. Nassau is the capital and largest city of The Bahamas. It is located on the island of New Providence, which had a population of 296,522, or just over 74% of the entire population of The Bahamas. During the American Civil War, Nassau served as a port for blockade runners making their way to and from ports along the southern Atlantic Coast for continued trade with the Confederacy. In the 1920s and 1930s, Nassau profited from Prohibition in the United States. During the Cuban Revolution of 1959, tourism was further benefitted due to the imposed restrictions on American citizens visiting Cuba. Today, Nassau’s location close to the United States and ties between the U.S. and the Bahamas make it a common tourist destination.
Your mission is to depart Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International (KFLL) and fly to Lynden Pindling International (MYNN) with any Canadian Xpress freeware or payware aircraft that is rated for both airports.
