BlackSquare Kingair transmission/reception issue

I am unable to communicate with ATC and/or hear ATIS transmissions when I launch into the sim in the BlackSquare Kingair. I have no trouble at all when I launch into the sim in the Carenado C182T. Are there any known issues with the BlackSquare addons?

What does the frequency box in vPilot show? Are you sure you’ve set the plane up to communicate on the radio you’re expecting, and you’ve turned on any avionics master switches?

The vPilot box shows the correct frequencies for the airport/air space that I spawn into. I have the GTN750Nxi avionics package in the BlackSquare Kingair and about 400 hrs in that aircraft (about 50 hrs using SayIntentions). I hope that indicates my familiarity with initializing and using the avionics system in that aircraft. Since everything works properly in other aircraft, I was wondering if anyone else has had an issue with the BlackSquare aircraft. If so, I can launch a support ticket with BlackSquare and/or the Garmin site that I bought the GTN750Nxi pro software from. If anyone is using any of the BlackSquare aircraft with success, then the issue might be something on my end (such as anti-virus software or something).

Assuming then that you’re also proficient in interpreting the colours/shading of the vPilot top right corner to figure out which radio is active and which isn’t.

I have the BlackSquare TBM and the TDS GTN, works without issue (when I’ve set up my radios right). I know several people who fly the KA without issue too. I did spot this, though, don’t know if it’s relevant for your situation: King Air Battery Bus | Just Flight Community

Found the problem. I think you were on the right track. I had to have at least one engine running with the AC inverter on. As soon as I connected to ATIS with an engine running I could hear the ATIS transmission. Also got a 5/5 radio check on the tower frequency. Thanks for your help. Oh, and I used the Vatsim Radar site to confirm active radio frequencies at the airport I used for the test.

Coolio. There are a lot of little random gotcha’s in the links between sim, addon, and vPilot, because there are some compromises made at each step. Sometimes a 100% true to life switchology is required to make it work, sometimes it’s almost that but with a twist. I usually find it’s best to start with what’s correct for the aircraft, and experiment from there.
