[BETA] New Flight Plan form on myVATSIM

Dear VATSIM Tech Department,

I am encountering an issue when trying to include a “/” in the RMK/ field of the flight plan on VATSIM through a URL. Any string containing slashes (“/”) is not accepted, which leads to the entire content of the RMK/ field being deleted.

For example, CALLSIGN/XXX is part of the remark field, and when it includes a “/”, such as CALLSIGN/XXX, the content is removed instead of being processed and included in the flight plan. This seems to be due to the slashes being treated as special characters in the field, causing an unwanted deletion of the entire remark text.

I would appreciate any assistance in avoiding this issue, as it is currently preventing the proper inclusion of CALLSIGN/ in the RMK/ field.

Thank you for your support.

Best regards

Not sure how often Tech folks are on the forums. Suggest sending a message on the Community Discord or opening a support ticket with the Tech department.

Apologies Don, but that’s incorrect. The website itself says it should be reported here.
And I am sure that @1277383 looks here regularly

Gotcha, thanks for the realignment. That’s what I get for triaging forums in the middle of the night when I should be sleeping! Thanks!

I do check this post often
That’s a known issue. For the initial implementation, unrecognized fields were discarded. The next update will add some extra features to the parser and form based on feedback from users here, I’ll see if I can handle this case better for the update

i am using Simbrief Airframe and have for my virtual airline this setting
CS/LEIPZIGAIR/LEIPZIG AIR
inserted at Item 18
I am using this format for Vatsim Radar to display my Airline correct.
But if i am prefiling via simbrief my flightplan this Remark with CS is not automatically inserted

Please see my reply right above your message.
Invalid fields are discarded at this point. I’m working on a possible solution in coordination with the vatsim-radar team and the feedback on this thread

Hi Marcelo,

Would it be possible to add some error checking to the flight plan form for EOBT?

For example, the EOBT is compared to current UTC. And only times that are within the window of now → now + 2 hours are able to be filed?

Some airlines input the Taxi time and Takeoff Weight in the RMK section as depicted below:

RMK/TCAS PAX FLT TAXI:0011 TOW:58780

Despite it being a valid format in the real world, in its current state, the form does not allow colons “:” to be inputted.

This is planned yes, but it’s likely to only be a “warning” so the pilot can check the EOBT/DOF. The main reason is the possibility for a pilot to reconnect mid flight and refile their flight plan. This means we can’t simply block filing a flight plan with EOBT in the past.

That won’t be allowed, since : is a special character on the FSD protocol

That sounds like a good compromise!

Thanks for working on this. It looks like the URL parser substitutes a + for spaces in the final form. Any chance we could get another character that substitutes in for a /?

I’m new to VATSIM and have been using the Beta flight plan page because I like to use previously submitted flight plans as a template. But, when I view my statistics, many of my flights say no flight plan filed. I verify my information before beginning my flight by viewing the VATSIM Radar web site and it shows the information I just filed.

Any ideas what is causing this? Feel free to view flights using callsign N4877P

Thanks! :grinning:

image Hello all! What speed should I write here? Is it TAS? Is it KIAS or is it GS? Thanks.
