Hello there,
Just wondering if there is any plan to add Ranks and Achievements as badges for both pilots and ATC?
Especially in any world tour which could be nice to get any achievement for world tour completion..
Thanks.
As some history, we have been promised Pilot awards for ten years but nothing has ever been implemented. There were ATC events that encouraged âupâ time and awards issued, however I believe it was axed because some areas were not operating in line with VATSIM expectations. Virtual Airlines are a way to gain recognition of flight time, but that is in house with the VA.
It really is a contradiction of outcomes. Encouraging time on line, also encourages pushing the boundaries of being an âactive connectionâ. The network does not have the capacity to supervise effectively to allow such competitions in my opinion.
Other than the currently-existing pilot ratings and ATC ratings, no other âbadges-typeâ recognition being actively considered.
Discussed at least annually, but have never received enough traction, especially in light of other priorities.
I always liked the shiny badges they gave me over at IVAO back in the years
They gave absolutely no advantage (or fame) whatsoever, but they were⌠nice ![]()

Right.
I have those badges too in IVAO.
So if people investing their time to fly online in VATSIM so why not to give them something by return which probably will drive them to fly more and start to make the flight to be done with purpose..
Tbh, I want to start fly in VATSIM network more often then before but the experience is not the only thing that Iâm looking for (which is absolutely nice here) but something that should drive me (maybe) to fly and get any achievements more and more..Idk..
There is no investment, the network will exist weather you fly or not.
All my flights over the almost 20 years are done with purporse, regardless, an award or badge wont get me to fly more, I fly with friends and into events
If you need something to encourage you to fly more, or as a return on invenstment then I donât think you are in the right place.
