I’ve made massive progress on the VATSIM Flight Board since my last update. It is now a fully universal tool that can track flights at any airport on the network, while still offering highly detailed, custom-branded experiences for major hubs.

What is it?
A browser-based Flight Information Display System (FIDS) designed for home cockpits and streamers. It pulls live data from VATSIM to replicate the look and feel of real airport signage. It now supports Universal Search, meaning you can type in any ICAO code (e.g., EDDF, OMDB, YSSY) and instantly get a working board for that location.
New & Updated Features:
• Universal Airport Support: Not flying to a major hub? No problem. Use the new “Add Airport” button to load a flight board for any airport on the VATSIM network.
• UKCP Integration (New): For UK airports (EGLL, EGKK, etc.), the board now connects directly to the VATSIM UK Controller Panel API. If a controller assigns you a specific stand, it appears on the board instantly, no more generic “TBA.”
• Expanded Custom Themes: I’ve added distinct, realistic themes for:
• London Heathrow (EGLL): Classic yellow branding.
• London Gatwick (EGKK): Distinctive black & yellow styling.
• New York JFK (KJFK): A retro “Solari” split-flap mechanical style.
• London City (EGLC): City Airport branding.
• (Plus the existing Zurich, Geneva, and Basel themes)
• Dynamic Language Translation: The board automatically detects the airport’s country and translates the UI (Arrivals, Departures, Security info) into the local language (German, French, Spanish, Italian, etc.).
• Live Header Widgets: New widgets in the header show Active Controllers (popover list) and real-time METAR weather (temperature & conditions).
• Intelligent Status Logic: Still features the smart status detection that flips between “Boarding” and “Pushback” based on your transponder and ground speed, plus geofencing for gate arrivals.
Current Status:
• Optimised for: Desktop monitors (Landscape & Portrait supported).
• Stands: Precision stand geofencing is now live for LSZH, LSGG, LFSB, EGLL, EGKK, and KJFK. All other airports use smart proximity logic.
