Canadian Xpress April 2023 Monthly Challenge - Northern Lights

The Northern lights are the result of collisions between gaseous particles in the Earth’s atmosphere with charged particles released from the sun’s atmosphere that produce energy in the form of light. Variations in color are due to the type of gas particles that are colliding, the altitude at which the aurora occurs, the density of the atmosphere and the level of energy involved. The Aurora Borealis manifests itself in a huge ring above the Earth’s Geomagnetic North Pole which is referred to as the Auroral Oval.

Due to the shape of the Auroral Oval, Dawson City Yukon is one of the best places in the world for easy viewing of the northern lights. As Dawson City is located right in the middle of the aurora oval and unlike some of the larger population centers in the area, has much less light pollution making Dawson City a dark sky views dream.

Your mission is to depart from Anchorage (PANC) and fly charter flights to Dawson City (CYDA) to checkout this amazing meteorological sight with any Canadian Xpress freeware or payware aircraft. However, the runway at Dawson City Airport is only 5,000 feet long, so you will need to maximize both aircraft type and loading to make these flights economical.

Join Canadian Xpress today in order to participate as there are some great prizes to be won including any Aerosoft download product from https://www.aerosoft.com/

The April 2023 Monthly Challenge is open to all Canadian Xpress pilots from April 2nd until April 29th, 2023 so join Canadian Xpress today by visiting https://canadianxpress.ca
