Hello,

Is there any update on the investigation of the high pitch screeching sound i hear quite often when using vPilot. It’s been like this for a looong time now. I asked i think maybe 2 years ago and was told that it was being investigated.

Is there any progress on the investigation?

I had it recently as well on swift pilot client and reducing the radio output volume in the SIM helped a lot.

Yes, that’s what i do too but it’s tiring to keep doing this every couple of minutes on a long flight plus it’s not good for my hearing.
If i use my speakers to listen to ATC, i have the family in the room and they get upset when it happens. I try to as quickly as possible turn down the volume but it doesn’t really make them happier :slight_smile:

It would be nice to hear some progress on this issue or if somebody is even looking into the reason why it’s happening.

I meant that I only get these screamers when my radio comm value is set near or at MAX. If not, I do not get them. Just to be sure and to avoid any doubt: I turn down the voice output volume in my client (swift) and it stopped occurring. This is a recent experience of the last 3 weeks.

Ok.

I get them regardless of volume setting. Usually have my volume low around 10-15% of max.
I have approx 50Mb/s downlink and around 15-20Mb/s uplink so i don’t think hte speed is the issue. When i am controlling and use AFV i never experience this problem.

I am curious if this could be some timing/buffering issue but i am just guessing as i don’t have access to the vPilot software. Would be interesting to know which API’s are used for transmission/reception of data and voice generation out of that data.

Andreas Fuchs - das ist einer der wenigen Namen, an die ich mich aus meiner früheren VATSIM-Zeit (-15 Jahre) noch erinnere. Das hier hat sich ganz schön verändert und ich finde mich überhaupt noch nicht zurecht. Vielleicht kann ich mir einen Mentor leisten.
Zunächst suche ich mal jemanden, mit dem ich meinen Teamspeak Account und dann meine vPilot Verbindung testen könnte. Würdest Du mir helfen? Sorry, wenn ich hier in den Chat einfach so reinspringe, aber ich bin heute das erste Mal hierdrin und der Chat-Roboter ist noch nicht wirklich mein Freund :frowning:

Hallo Martin,

am besten besuchst Du uns im Forum von VATSIM Germany - dort gibt es ein eigenes Programm für Neu- und Wiedereinsteiger.

Im Teamspeak von VATSIM Germany sind auch immer wieder Leute, die gerne helfen und vorallem Zeit dafür haben :slight_smile:

Sounds to me like good old feedback into your mic, especially if you’re using speakers. But you can get it from headphones or buds too. The clue is when you turn down your output volume and it stops. It used to happen sometimes at the desk in recording studios where I was an audio engineer.

Negative Ghostrider :smiley: It only happened when somebody else on frequency made a transmission and that escalated - I am using headphones only. Happened also with MIC muted.
